In order to monitor developments of Ontwikkelingsschets 2010 (OS2010) in the Scheldt estuary, validated data series and reports need to be created. These reports, constructed annually, give a preliminary look at the available data and a basic description thereof. Any interpretations made in these reports are based on simple data analysis, without any indications on the cause-consequence relationships.
OntwikkelingsSchets 2010
Projects in the OntwikkelingsSchets 2010 (OS2010) aim to initiate multiple changes in the Scheldt estuary, and thus improving the accessibility, safety and environmental value of the system. However, it is important that these projects do not cause other (negative) effects as well. Therefore, an integrated monitoring system is mandatory.
Report Western Scheldt 2019
The most recent edition of these reports was published by the end of 2021. The report visualizes available data series from hydrographic, physico-chemical and biological data series from 1996 to 2019 in the Westerschelde.
The report was made by Deltares in commission of Rijkswaterstaat (RWS), and was written by dr. F.M. Kleissen and others. The addition, analysis and processing of data in the report was done by dr. W. Stolte en B. van Rongen. It is the first edition of the report that was generated completely through R and the RMarkdown package. The most recent report is available in both a HTML and PDF format, using the link below:
Reports Sea Scheldt
The Zeeschelde, which is the Belgian part of the Scheldt estuary, has its own editions of the report. The report is made up by data from the MONEOS monitoring campaign. The Vlaamse Milieumaatschappij (VMM) constructs the report with physico-chemical data, while the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) is responsible for the geomorphological and biological data.
