The present study reviews the known distribution of Eunereis longissima (Johnston, 1840) in the Black Sea. This constitutes the first record of the species in Romanian coastal waters. Diagnostic morphological characteristics of E. longissima specimens collected in the field and from museum collections are provided together with a discussion on its reproductive, distributional and ecological traits. The highest frequency of occurrence of E. longissima was observed between 40 and 100 m, in communities of Mytilus galloprovincialis Lamarck, 1819 and Modiolula phaseolina (Philippi, 1844). The abundance varied between 2 and 48 ind.m-2, depending on water depth, with the maximum recorded at 60-80 m. Nereis (Ceratonereis) karadagica Vinogradov, 1933 described from the Karadag region (northern Black Sea, Crimea) is herein regarded as a nomen dubium due to the original type material being lost or destroyed and the original description is insufficient for a definitive identification.
