Alitta succinea has been introduced into inland saline lakes for aquaculture food (North America and ?Europe) and accidentally introduced from shipping (southern hemisphere). Reports of this species in the ponto-caspian region need to be verified as there is confusion in the literature between this species and Hediste diversicolor.
