General considerations about inorganic salts bioaccumulation whithin intracytoplasmic structures from various plant and animal cellular types (iodides, bromides, carbonates, phosphates, nitrates, oxalates, etc.). Suitable technics such as polarization, staining, microanalysis and structural study prous vide data about the chemical structure of concretions or spherocrystals, and also allow to follow their origin and later development. We have studied hepatopancreas B cells of Mollusca Polyplacophora and intestinal cells of copepoda and we can report that, in these cells, various cytoplasmic structures are involved in the building of lythosomes, either simultaneously or separately. It must be emphasised that the Golgi complex and the endoplasmic reticulum take part in this process, as a general rule. Likewise, in certain species such as Eucyclops serrulatus, micropits originated at the apical pole of intestinal cells take a large amount of exogenous material. In the same species, mitochondria are also involved in the formation of lythosomes. There is a discussion about the storage function of these concretions as well as about their role in the growing and consolidation of the carapace and the integument in both invertebrate group
